ABOUT THE PROJECT
I started working at Fitsom Studios in Sacramento, a holistic fitness and wellness facility, years ago. I started off work-trading for classes and over a few years evolved from mopping to web design and content manager.
Fitsom had just started up as a small local business and were trying to find a brand and a site that suited their mission. They envisioned lots of great photos and video, and wanted to ensure that they provided as much info as possible. Over the course of time the website grew and morphed and changed many times. This website was a group effort; the final version you see now is an altered version of the original that my team designed.
Most content and copy was written by me, including a couple blogs. I was in charge of facilitating and editing new content, making sure we stayed on-brand, and directed and organized (and optimized) video & photos. I had so much fun working on Fitsom’s website, especially bolstering media content!
UPDATE: The site as it is currently designed has been updated by new designers and is not my work.
THE PROCESS
1. Planning and Research
Created a branding and organizational vision and researched color schemes, plugins, competitors’ sites, etc.. Then listed a plan of action and consulted with the marketing team.
2. Copywrite, Editing, Media
Everything from blurbs to informational copywrite to directing demonstrational videos. Not only did I create original content, but I also managed others.
3. Website Layout Design & Function
Made crucial decisions about branding image, aesthetic, the functions (plugins, widgets, forms, etc.), CTA buttons, image placement, some graphic design, you name it I did it.
4. Launch and SEO
Placed keywords throughout the site in an intentional manner, as well as basic SEO work such as alt tags and meta descriptions.
5. Additional Photos & Video
As time went on, I continued to manage media content (and took video) in order to enhance Fitsom’s brand and increase SEO.
