ABOUT THE PROJECT
I met Savet, the owner of REAL Cambodia Tour (currently consulting about a full re-brand with new name) while I was in Cambodia. He’s a tuk-tuk driver who conducts unique tours around the countryside of Battambang. His mission was particularly inspiring – he believes strongly in the power of education, for which his village lacks funding. Which is why part of the proceeds go to his village’s schools & struggling families.
We got to talking during the lunch break and I learned that he really needed a new website and a better image since tuk-tuk business is extremely competitive in Cambodia. I decided I wanted to help him with his mission, and set off on a pro-bono project.
He wanted something that represented the beautiful countryside, and the love he feels for his primarily rice-farming village. My design decisions kept earthy, calming tones in mind while maintaining a sense of professionalism and fluidity of navigation.

THE PROCESS
1. Planning and Research
Created a branding and organizational plan and researched color schemes, plugins, competitors’ sites, etc.. Then listed a plan of action and consulted with the owner about their vision!
2. Complete Content Re-vamp
Most of the copy is original content by Yours Truly. Also copy-enriched, and edited existing content. Arranged content according to what would be on what page. Made decisions about media.
3. Website Layout Design & Function
Made crucial decisions about not only the aesthetic of the site, but also the functions, CTA buttons, image placement, plugins, widgets, you name it. Graphically designed the banner and currently consulting for a logo.
4. Launch and Hosting Set-up
Set up domain registration, hosting plan, SSL, WHOIS protection, and transferred and launched the site! In addition, I set up his email and MX records.
5. Ongoing Maintenance
I currently update the site regularly when changes are needed, and will be assisting with a new SEO project in the works.
